Meet Catherine
University of Arizona Marketing Student
I’m currently attending the University of Arizona majoring in Marketing, with a minor in Communications, and a certificate in Sports Management. I’m also obtaining my masters degree in marketing at the same time through the Accelerated Masters in Marketing Program in the Eller College of Management.
I have a background in publications from my high school years in yearbook, newspaper, and sports reporting specifically within photo and written cover summaries per each varsity game. In yearbook, I began as a freelance sports photographer to becoming the yearbook editor, assistant advisor, and lead photographer (2018-2021). I contributed to a newspaper article in my high school through writing a paper with my colleagues about our student business and a guest speaker we had. I worked for a small sports company in San Diego, California as a student reporter covering all varsity sports at my high school during my junior year (2019-2020) through photography and written print.
I am currently a fourth year sports photographer intern for Arizona Athletics. Through this internship, I have the opportunity to further my sports photography in the collegiate setting by covering home and away games and meets, travel, community service events, alumni events, and media days (headshots, creative photo stations, and full body marketing) for both our athletic teams and recruits. Through this opportunity, my strength in effective communication between each department has become clear in a fast-paced day atmosphere.
My eye for detail is shown in business projects and in my sports photography. In business projects, I have an eye for detail within editing papers and powerpoint presentations. I also understand the difference in pixels and clarity of a large JPEG vs a small JPEG in a presentation and how they both can look differently in front of the class. In my sports photography, I enjoy capturing the “eye of the athlete” as this tells the story of who they are and where they are going. I also enjoy capturing the “small moments” as they stand out amongst the big moments and are often looked over as nothing special. Instead from my perspective they help a story become well-rounded and they build a connection with my audience.

Resume
I am resilient in my work efforts both in school and within photography by thinking outside of the box to think creatively and to always get the job done first before moving forward. I believe this makes me the person I am today because it not only makes me a dependable individual but it also makes me look at the problem from all different angles in order to paint the picture better. From my business classes at the eller College of Management, I have had the opportunity to put this forward in group projects where I was the team leader for multiple classes with group projects at the same time. This helped showcase my strengths of being a leader, being a resilient individual, and have effective communication with time management skills. Each of these skills helped keep my team on track of the goal of each project and to maintain on task.
For my future endeavors after college, I want to pursue a career in sports photography for any collegiate program. I’m open to any opportunity to grow as a sports photographer at the collegiate level in the United States. I’m also open to any opportunity in sports content marketing being able to still utilize my photography skills and combine my marketing background as a whole. I want to be able to help share any company’s story with the public through utilizing their social media platforms and brand campaigns at a larger level.
